While travelling through the countryside near Termas del Arapey, I came across this Greater Rhea moving through the open fields. Its encounter with the fence created a simple but striking scene, showing the contrast between the freedom of the wild bird and the boundaries of the landscape shaped by people. I was drawn to the quiet character of the moment and the way this bird belongs so naturally to the vast plains of Uruguay.
