Before dawn, I climbed the steep staircase to the summit of Seongsan Ilchulbong, Jeju's volcanic Sunrise Peak. Reaching the rim of the ancient crater just before sunrise, I watched the sky slowly fill with rich shades of purple as the first light spread across the sea. It was a rewarding start to the day and a memorable way to experience one of South Korea's most iconic landscapes.
